Epworth triumphs at Dusi

dusi-2022

Epworth was a force to be reckoned with at this year’s Dusi Canoe Marathon that took place from 17 to 19 February.  Current and past pupils dominated the top podium spots with Epworth pupils Jessica Behn and Amy Hulett and their respective partners taking the top two U18 places and Epworth’s Sarah Jones and Rachel van Deventer coming third. In the U23 category, the first, second and third spots all went to current or former Epworth pupils: Cara Waud and Tracey Oellermann, Jade Dundas-Starr and Tabitha Hulett and Daniela and Katja Vonkeman. The overall winners in the women’s race, Abby Solms and Bianca Haw are also past Epworth pupils. Twelve of the 20 paddlers who came in the top 10 of the women’s K2 event all honed their canoeing skills at Epworth. Current pupil Rebecca Cook, and her partner, won the U23 mixed category while past Epworth Prep School pupil Murray Starr, and his partner, came top in the senior mixed event. Thirteen current Epworth pupils took on the gruelling challenge and all of them successfully completed the three-day event.
